Engage the public on air quality
Air pollution is the world’s greatest environmental health threat. Due to a rising awareness in the population, people world-wide become more and more interested in air quality data from their local neighborhoods and communities.
Cities, businesses and NGOs are working with Breeze Technologies to monitor air quality and involve citizens in clean air actions. Through citizen science-focussed activities, citizens can directly contribute towards gathering more and better air quality data from their surroundings by hosting a sensor, and participate in event series and workshops to learn more about the topic.
We warmly invite your organisation to join our network of clean air actors, and contribute towards tomorrow’s cleaner and healthier cities. In a nutshell:
- Breeze Technologies works with citizens and citizen-led organisations to deploy sensors in urban areas
- We disseminate the data through a citizen portal for air quality, as well as other online and offline formats
- The projects can be funded by one or multiple project sponsors
Breeze Technologies can manage the whole project lifecycle
We will work with you to identify the best possible sensing locations in the area of your interest. To facilitate this, we have access to a global database of thousands of volunteers willing to contribute a balcony or another location as a potential spot for an air quality sensor. The existing database can be enriched through targeted social media campaigns with calls for applicants for your air quality project. Or you can even work with your own employees or members as potential sensor hosts!
Data from the sensors will then be streamed in real-time to a global air quality database. And don’t worry – we take care of calibration and quality assurance of the measurements. It will join more than 12,000 sensing locations world-wide on our citizen portal.
