Poor indoor air quality affects employee health and productivity<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is well-known that air pollution is responsible for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/airpollution\/ambient\/health-impacts\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">various health issues<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breeze-technologies.de\/blog\/health-impact-of-indoor-and-outdoor-air-pollution\/\">heart disease, stroke, respiratory infections, and cancer<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014in fact,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/commissions\/pollution-and-health\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">800,000 people<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> die from poor workplace air quality every year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s also a specific illness linked to poor indoor air quality called \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breeze-technologies.de\/blog\/headaches-at-work-the-sick-building-syndrome-could-be-the-reason\/\">sick building syndrome<\/a>\u201d. Chan School of Public Health\u2019s Centre for Health and the Global Environment, SUNY Upstate Medical University, and Syracuse University found that individuals who work in well-ventilated offices with below-average levels of air pollutants perform cognitively better than those who work in environments with average levels of indoor air pollution. This held true across all of the nine cognitive domains tested, which were:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Basic Activity Level: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s ability to make decisions at all times<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applied Activity Level: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s capacity to make decisions to achieve overall goals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Focused Activity Level: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s the capacity to pay attention to current situations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Task Orientation: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s capacity to make decisions to complete immediate tasks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crisis Response: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s capacity to plan and strategize under emergency situations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Information Seeking: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s capacity to acquire information required from different sources<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Information Usage: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s capacity to use provided and gathered information to attain goals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breadth of Approach: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s capacity to make decisions through a variety of options and opportunities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strategy: the impact air quality has on one\u2019s ability to use solutions through information and planning<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>2.
